A heating system will also keep the ground at a constant temperature while artificial lights will be used to make sure the grass continues to grow at a rapid pace in between matches. The pitch dimensions measure at 109 x 71 meters, meeting the minimum 105 x 68 meters requirements with room to spare.

With the first game just over a week away, Atletico Madrid also unveiled the huge new home dressing room that will house the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Koke and Diego Godin from now on. They released a tantalising video that showed crisp red and white shirts and a stunning version of the Atletico Madrid club crest etched into the sealing.
